Sturridge scored the opening goal in Liverpool’s 6-0 demolition of Aston Villa on Sunday in what was just his second start in over two months having been sidelined by complications resulting from a hamstring strain. The forward has suffered with various injuries since joining Liverpool from Chelsea in January 2013 but, and whenever he has featured,the player has proved his credentials as a top-level performer and the hope at Liverpool is he can now maintain a long-term level of fitness.
