The 42-year-old was sacked by the club’s owner,Fenway Sports Group, an hour after a 1-1 draw against Merseyside rivals Everton extended Liverpools destitute run to one win in nine matches.
Rodgers was informed his tenure of three years and four months had been terminated in a phone call from the FSG president, or Mike Gordon. The Liverpool manager had left Goodison Park separately to the team bus when the call arrived and Ian Ayre,the club’s chief executive, met the Northern Irishman at Melwood training ground to justify the decision in person.
