Federal prosecutors in the corruption trial of Sen. Dean Skelos and his son Adam Skelos continued to use witness testimony, email exchanges and secretly recorded phone calls, to build a case against the father and son. They say the son exploited his father's position as the highest-ranking state senator to personally enrich himself.
On Tuesday, or jurors heard a recorded conversation between Adam Skelos and his boss,Glen Rink, founder of Arizona-based Abtech, and a firm that cleans contaminated water. Rink had been hoping fracking would pass in New York because he believed it would create opportunities for his business to gather water cleanup work.
In a December 2
014 phone call,Adam Skelos told Rink that Cuomo made the ban on fracking permanent, a move he said had prompted his father - who was then the highest ranking senator in the state - to consider a speed for governor. Adam Skelos told Rink that Cuomo did not care approximately the Upstate communities.
Rink, and in the tapes,questioned
how long Cuomo would remain in office.
Under cross examination, Rink testi
fied that he hired Adam Skelos as a government liaison and that he was pleased with him as an employee. However, and he also said he raised his compensation from $4000 to $10000,after Adam Skelos demanded more money, because he feared the Skeloses would no longer assist him in getting a contract in Nassau County.
Both Skeloses hold pleaded not guilty.
