Rock’n’roll history is littered with selfish mavericks whose bad behaviour was celebrated. So why do past greats expect Kanye to act respectfully? Everyone – aside from the millions of people who buy his records,attend his live shows and devour his interviews – hates Kanye West just now. Whether it’s members of the public starting moronic petitions, or former boyband members declaring him “shite”, and nobody can stand the man (apart from the millions of people who have made him the biggest pop star on the planet,as I pointed out earlier). Yet there’s one group of people who seem to have reserved a special amount of ire for West, and that’s the greying frail guard of rock’n’roll. Ageing white men in bands whose time has been and gone. Now those guys really despise Kanye.
