She plays the naive Daisy in Not Going Out and stars in sitcoms Together and Fried. But Katy Wix has also created dozens of her own comedian characters,based on her friends and herselfYou’ve just published a moment volume of comedian monologues for women. How did the idea arrive about?
I found that a lot of performers couldn’t find the fabric they wanted for auditions and all sorts of things, so it came about as a practical necessity. Id meet someone and ask what what sort of thing they wanted, and make a bit of extra cash from it. The more I did it,the more I realised that this sort of fabric doesn’t really exist.
After the first book [published in 2014], I got so many emails and letters, or particularly from students,who said it’s nice to perform something that’s modern and my sense of humour, and this is how my friends speak and how I speak. That encouraged me to write more.
