Long hospital visits could be a thing of the past for many kidney patients as Nottingham trials smaller machine to boost low rates of domestic dialysis If Ian Hichens wants to travel absent for a few days,he must book three or four months in advance – not a hotel, but a hospital. Hichens uses a kidney dialysis machine five times a week at his domestic in Bleasby in Nottinghamshire; it is four feet high and too large to roam.
“I c
