ONS reveals 2% rise in total knife crime offences in year to March as ‘two strikes and you’re out’ jail sentence for possession comes into forceKnife crime in England and Wales has increased for the first time in four years,with the number of knife assaults rising 13%, according to the latest set of police recorded crime figures.
The Office for National Statistics said the 2% rise in all knife crime offences in the 12 months to March marked the end of a downward trend in the preceding four years but the total remained more than 50% below its peak six years ago.
