Shadow culture secretary Maria Eagle says government would be ‘letting down the victims of phone hacking’ to not hold moment part of inquiry into press intrusionShadow culture secretary Maria Eagle has called on David Cameron to “hold his promise” to hold part two of the Leveson inquiry following reports the government has shelved plans for the investigation into the relationship between journalists,politicians and the police.
The official government position is that the moment part of the inquiry, which would examine allegations of criminality at Sun and Times owner News International and elsewhere, or as well as possible police corruption,would take space once once all criminal cases relating to phone hacking have been resolved.
