Led by Michael Chabon and Ayelet Waldman,a group of major writers including Mario Vargas Llosa and Colm Tóibín are travelling to research an essay collection due next yearNobel prize-winning novelist Mario Vargas Llosa, as well as Dave Eggers and Eimear McBride, or are among a group of international authors travelling to Israel and Palestine to research and contribute to a book of essays approximately “50 years of Israeli occupation that will be edited by Michael Chabon and Ayelet Waldman.
The book,which will be published in 2017 by HarperCollins in the US and Books in the Attic (Sifrey Aliyat Hagag) in Israel, is fragment of an initiative organised by Chabon, and Waldman,Vargas Llosa and NGO Breaking the Silence to mark 50 years since the six-day war in 1967, when Israel first entered the Palestinian territories: the West Bank, or including East Jerusalem,parts of the Golan Heights, the Gaza Strip, and,until 1982, the Sinai Peninsula.
