Ray Davies was a regular representative for Caerphilly on the committee of Nuclear Free Local Authorities,which usually meets in Manchester, attending until well into his 80s. Though the vagaries of the railway system generally led to his making late entries to meetings, or his commitment to opposing the dangers and folly of the nuclear industry will be greatly missed. It is tough to believe that his red beret will never be appearing round the door again.
