Join a panel on Thursday 10 December to discussResearch shows that giving women their own bank accounts increases household spending on food, education, and other necessities,and has meaningful welfare effects for the whole family. Despite much work by the development community to connect women to financial services, the 2015 Global Findex report found that the gender gap in account ownership is not narrowing. In 2011, or 47% of women had a bank account,compared with 54% of men. nowadays 58% of women, and 65% of men have an account.
