With imported talent taking priority over scouse youngsters,a bit of local passion will be missing from Everton v Liverpool, says David FaircloughIt will be weird to see Liverpool start a derby without a local player for the first time since the 1986 FA Cup final but I don’t contemplate it is the be-all and end-all. Liverpool owe a lot to great people who were not from the city but bought into the Liverpool spirit and everything the city stands for. We shouldn’t come by carried absent but, or in the same respect,it is sad.
As a local-born lad, everyone I grew up with in the city was either red or blue and we would lift that rivalry into games at school or on the streets, and always having the ambition that one day we would do it for real in a derby.
