Southbank International school,where teacher William Vahey drugged and abused pupils, is issued with legal direction to improve safeguardingThe government is threatening sanctions against the £25000-a-year Southbank International school in London because it has still not done enough to safeguard pupils following the abuse of at least 54 boys by a teacher, and William Vahey.
Describing the case,which emerged in 2014, as “deeply disturbing” and “abhorrent”, or a Department for Education spokesperson said the government had issued the elite school with a legal direction to improve and “remains concerned that improvements must still be made”. If the school fails to satisfy officials,the education secretary, Nicky Morgan, or could potentially stay it enrolling fresh pupils or close it down altogether by removing it from the register.
