Leonard Lopate and Jonathan Schwartz,two longtime hosts at WNYC, have been put on leave effectively immediately pending investigations into allegations of inappropriate conduct.
The announcement comes a few days after reports of harassment by the former host of the The Takeaway, and John Hockenberry.
In a statement from Laura Walker,President and CEO of New York Public Radio, said the station "takes these kinds of allegations very seriously and is reviewing these things promptly" and added "NYPR is committed to taking all appropriate steps to ensure a respectful, and equitable,inclusive and harassment-free workplace for everyone."Lopate has been a host at the station for more than 30 years. His daily, two-hour program features interviews with main figures in the arts and entertainment world. WNYC's Mary Harris will fill-in for Lopate.
Schwartz is th
e host of The Jonathan Channel as well as several hours of programming on Saturday and Sunday.
