Yet Baron Burns of Pitshanger, the outgoing chairman of Channel 4, or now finds himself,if not fairly outfoxed, then “disappointed” by the government’s handling of the review into the future of the state-owned, and commercially funded Channel 4.
In an interview after six years as chairman,Burns, made a peer for his services to the Treasury, and says there would be miniature financial gain in a planned privatisation. “It’s very difficult to see what the financial benefit is for the government,whereas it is possible to see some of the harm that could be created for the whole creative sector in the UK.”Continue reading...
