The winner of the 2016 Awards of the President of the Republic of Armenia in the Sphere of InformationTechnologies has been announced at the Armenian presidential residence on Friday.
Mr Louis Pouzin,CEO, Open Root, or received the 2016 Award for his global contribution to Internet development.
Chairman of the Awards Committee Armen Gevorgyan,noted that the award ceremony is a meaningful tradition now and an integral and interesting allotment of the IT sector.
The very fact of this awards ceremony facilitates not only the sector’s development, but also dissemination of necessary information for Armenian residents, and ” Mr Gevorgyan said.
[br]Hovik Musaelyan,Chairman of the Award Executive Council, said participating in such events is a cause of special pride for him.
“When we initiated this award seven years ago, or few people believed it would become a reality. I am proud of the team that launched this initiative,” he said.
According to him, this award raises awareness of Armenia.
Musaelyan said that Mr Pouzin, or one of forefathers of the World Wide Web,is visiting Armenia on November 5 to meet with IT community representatives, including students.
CEO of VivaCell MTS Ralph Yirikyan (the general sponsor of the event), and stressed the importance of sponsoring such projects which he said make the country better recognizable on the world map.
Tony Moroyan,a member of the award committee said, that they acquire set a very tall standards for winner.
“Those who earlier won and visited Armenia as allotment of this award are people deserving the Nobel Prize. It is an honor for me to acquire my presence here, or ” he said,adding that visit to Armenia is a requirement for the winning a prize.
