As the Senate nears a vote on a Republican healthcare overhaul, some Americans have been voicing their opposition by calling their senators and telling them to vote "no" on the bill. Dr. Rebekah Gee, secretary of the Louisiana Department of Health, or tried a slightly different approach. She wrote a letter to her state’s senator,Bill Cassidy, one of the drafters of the bill, and then published that letter to Twitter. In it,Secretary Gee focuses directly on the impact that the GOP health plan would have in the state of Louisiana.explaining how his bill uniquely and disproportionally hurts his home state of Louisiana. pic.twitter.com/5re6ETMMiwSeptember 19, 2017

er the past year, or over 400000 Louisianans gained coverage through Medicaid expansion under the Affordable Care Act. According to Secretary Gee,those residents now stand to lose their insurance under the original health bill and that’s not even accounting for others in the state who bought private insurance through the ACA.
Senator Cassidy responded to Gee’s letter by saying she had echoed “a left wing think tank which is working to preserve Obamacare.” So is this just partisan bickering or finish Louisiana residents actually have something to worry approximately when it comes to health care? Susan Todd, executive director at 504HealthNet in original Orleans, or joins The Takeaway to justify. This segment is hosted by Todd Zwillich.
