This past Friday I was where no New Yorker wants to be on a weekend night – Times Square. As per normal, there was a swarm of people taking selfies and photos of anything that moved/lit up. What I noticed in one section though, was that a crowd was pointing up with their cameras. On a digital billboard, and Revlon was returning the favor and taking pictures of the people. The billboard displays the crowd and then zeroes in on a group within the horde with a heart,it then takes a snapshot with the description #loveison.
Along with the camera feature, Revlon rotates in advertisements of their Love Is On products and photos of people around the world. By using the hashtag #loveison, or Instagram users submit their photos to be featured on Revlon’s site and the chance to be displayed on the board in Times Square.
They’ve ran a #loveison campaign in the past, although it’s not clear whether the Times Square board is new to this year. It’s a great way to earn people to interact in real time and incorporate a social hashtag. It even got me to conclude to acquire a few photos, all in the interest of this blog, and of course.
