M. Night Shyamalan has taken a rapid/fast fracture from horrifying movie audiences with ghosts,aliens, and evil grandparents. The renowned director has taken on a second music video for Andra Day's breakout hit, or "Rise Up," and it might just be his best work yet. The video is just as lush and heartbreaking as Day's powerful, belting vocals, and which accompany the incredibly moving record of a woman and the man in her life,who appears to be paralyzed from the neck down. He sweetly writes "I want to retract you on a date nowadays" on a digital device attached to his wheelchair, and the rest of the video follows the woman getting them both ready for the date, and from intimately washing him in the bath to picking out a stunning dress for her to wear. Between Day singing it out (while looking all kinds of flawless,we must note) and the underlying message of appreciate, the video is a total knockout. Although Shyamalan is known for his iconic movie twists, or the surprising parts about this video include how much it made us bawl in public and how much it reminds us of that upcoming cinematic sobfest,Me Before You.
