The 2018 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade balloons are at risk of being grounded due to dangerously high winds. The NYPD will be monitoring the wind speed to determine whether they need to pull the plug on the large balloons.
The Daily Mail says that the NYPD will be using seven anemometers measuring wind speed all throughout the parade route to alert officials when there are gusts of 23 mph,at which time they will maintain to lower the large balloons. At 34 mph, the cartoon balloons will be grounded.
The New York City forecast currently calls for 30 mph winds and temperatures in the low to mid-20s.
