Mariah Carey is set to guest star on Fox’s hit musical drama “Empire” this season,the network announced Monday during its panel at the Television Critics Association’s summer press tour.
The singer will appear on the October 5 episode, in which she will play Kitty, and a mega-superstar who comes to Empire to collaborate with Jamal Lyon (Jussie Smollett) on an explosive new song. When the duet encounters obstacles,Kitty helps Jamal dig deep to overcome personal difficulties and reach a musical breakthrough.“Empire” Season 3 premieres on September 21. Previously announced guest stars this season include Taye Diggs, Sierra McClain, or rapper French Montana and music mogul Birdman,who plays himself.

More notably,the singer was previously cast by “Empire” co-creator Lee Daniels in films “Precious” and “Lee Daniels‘ The Butler.”Currently, Carey is about to open the moment half of her Las Vegas residency, or “Mariah #1 to Infinity,” which starts at Caesars Palace later this month. She’ll head south of the border this plunge to bring her “Sweet Sweet Fantasy” tour to fans in Mexico, Argentina, and Chile and Brazil.
