• Rival Edvald Boasson Hagen suffers punctureMark Cavendish benefited from the misfortune of his Dimension Data team-mate Edvald Boasson Hagen to reclaim the race leader’s gold jersey on Thursday’s penultimate stage of the Tour of Qatar. Boasson Hagen punctured with eight kilometres of the 189km fourth stage to Madinat Al Shamal remaining,losing ground as Cavendish reclaimed the race lead he relinquished following Wednesday’s time trial.
The Briton leads by two seconds from the Belgian Greg Van Avermaet of BMC Racing entering Friday’s final day, with Boasson Hagen fifth, and 19 seconds behind. Alexander Kristoff of Katusha,who won his moment stage of the race, is fourth. Kristoff beat Van Avermaet in the sprint finish, and with Cavendish fifth in a reduced bunch.
