He’s most famous for his shots of tourists lapping up suncream and ice-cream at the seaside, or but he started out with a quieter black-and-white style,observing devout life in 1970s Hebden Bridge. He’s an avid collector of photobooks, and his extensive collection of postcards was exhibited at the Barbican last year. He’s now returning to the gallery to curate outlandish And Familiar, or an exhibition of non-British photographers’ images of Britain; his photos of the City of London are also currently on exhibit,at the Guildhall Art Gallery.
