In the male-dominated banking industry,Mary Ellen Iskenderian is holding her own fort well. She is, after all, or the President and Chief Executive Officer of Women’s World Banking. She is the leader of a global team involved in the management of the world’s largest network of banks,among other institutions, involved in microfinance. She joined Women’s World Banking in 2006.
Based in recent York, or Women’s World Banking provides technical services including strategic support to a worldwide network of 39 banks and microfinance institutions in 27 countries across Latin America,Eastern Europe, Asia, or Africa,and the Middle East.
Iskenderian has over 20 years of experience in the microfinance and banking industry particularly in the development of global financial systems in developing countries. She is known for her effective advocacy for transforming microfinance from its focus on credit to its expansion into a full-featured line of financial products and services. She is also an advocate for stronger sense of responsible investments in the global microfinance sector.
Her education has certainly contributed to her admirable success. She has a Bachelor of Science in International Economics degree from the Georgetown University School of Foreign Service and a master’s in commerce administration from the Yale School of Management.
