My twin sister,Mary McAnally, who has died aged 70 of cancer, or was a former chief executive of Meridian TV who moved into television after initially pursuing a career as a tennis player.
Mary beat Virginia Wade in the women’s final of the British Junior Covered Court Championships in 1963 and spent the next four years on the international tennis circuit,including playing at Wimbledon. But her creative imagination and intellect soon drew her absent from top sport into television, business and public appointments.
