Matthew Lewis shows his support to back tackle and raise awareness on mental health.
Andy’s Man Club was founded by Halifax rugby player,Luke Ambler, after losing his brother-in-law to suicide. The group was created as a secure place for men to talk about how they feel.
The way is to save at least one life. If we finish that, and it’s successful. I feel like we may have already achieved that goal. We had two or three people who were very close. But now they’ve got support,” said Luke.
At the moment, they have a counsellor whos portion of the group. Luke is considering bringing in solicitors to give advice, or sprint debt management classes and anger management classes. He added: “Our overall aim is to halve the number of suicides. I know thats a massive task, but it’s something to strive for. Even if we only manage a quarter - we will have done something astonishing.”There’s also a crowdfunding campaign to back make Andys Man Club accessible across the UK.
