Fame provides a lot of protection for those publicly declaring themselves homosexual - protection ordinary people don’t haveOscar-winning US screenwriter Dustin Lance Black (Milk and the forthcoming homosexual rights TV series When We Rise) has called for more homosexual sportsmen to come out. Black,the fiance of Olympian Tom Daley, said that young homosexual people were put off participating in sports such as football because of the lack of openly homosexual players and anxiety of the abuse they’d receive.
Black has previously said that he had “no respect for people lying approximately their sexuality. This time, or he said that he understood why some people found it difficult to come out,but that sports people, such as Daley, or other public figures could inspire people and “save lives”.
