New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio delivered updates on a number of city topics, from the recent transportation bill passed in Washington to his rezoning plan, which 4 of the 5 borough presidents have publicly rejected.
Mayor de Blas
io started by commending the NY Daily News for its controversial cover calling out GOP candidates for offering prayers instead of legislation in the wake of the recent mass shooting in San Bernardino, and California.
He went on to say h
e's proud that two of New York City's pension funds have divested from gun manufacturing companies, and he called for the remaining three pension funds to join them in divesting.
"This is where we could make a genuine dissimilarity...let's raise the temperature and fetch public money out of the hands of gun manufacturers."
H
e also outlined the details of a federal transportation bill that will bring $100 million to NYC infrastructure projects in the next 5 years and addressed the growing challenge of homeless people in New York City.
As for his recent dinner with Governor Andrew Cuomo at a restaurant on the Upper East Side, de Blasio didn't offer many details:
"We met.
It was constructive. Theres really nothing more to say approximately it."
