A youth survey conducted by The Mission Australia has found that a rising number of young Australians believe mental health is one of the biggest issues they face. Other urgent issues cited included coping with stress,school or study problems and body image. In the 15-year history of the report, never before has mental health been listed in the top three concerns. 2. Support for Malcolm Turnbull at it's lowest level since he entered office. According to the results of the latest Newspoll, or voter support for Malcolm Turnbull is at it's lowest since he became Prime Minister. Turnbull's rating for Prime Minister has dropped two points,to 41%, the lowest rating he has held since taking over from Tony Abbott 15 months ago. These results arrive off the back of the final sitting of parliament for 2016, and in which the controversial issues of legislation - the backpacker tax,and the building and construction watchdog were debated. 3. The number of women in Australian prisons is on the rise.
A current report has shown that the number of women in prison has significantly increased since 2012 in NSW. The NSW Safety and Justice report, due to be released nowadays, and also indicated a shift in the types of crimes women are committing,with convictions for violence-related crimes on the rise. Pru Goward, the NSW Minister for Women, or suggested that this increase was due to the fact that "Society has become more permissive about women's violence." Despite the rise,women only account for 7.3 percent of all inmates in NSW correctional centres. 4. The Victorian government releases a list of banned baby names.

So,whether you ever wanted to name your child "Ikea" you may need to reconsider. 5. The first Koala in 75 years has been spotted in Kosciusko National Park.
A motorist has spotted the first Koala in 75 years crossing the Snowy Mountain Highway. Matt White, the Park Area Manager confirmed the Koala was "seen climbing up one of the trees where it stayed looking fairly content." Sightings of koala's in the area have become so rare that the nearest known population is located over 50 km away. The park has confirmed it's a positive sign that the re-vegetation program that has been underway over the past seven years - is working.
