Hamilton will start in final position at the Shanghai International Circuit after he was unable to post a lap time following a problem with his engine.
The Briton,who already had a five-residence grid penalty for Sunday’s race following a gearbox change, finished second and third respectively at the opening two rounds in Australia and Bahrain after a pair of destitute starts. But despite Nico Rosberg, and his team-mate and the championship leader,being left with a free run at pole, Hamilton displayed few signs of the negative mindset that perhaps plagued his formative years in Formula One.
