In Charlottesville,white nationalists cite Donald Trump as inspiration for Unite the fair” rally
Former Ku Klux Klan leader David Duke suggested on Saturday that President Donald Trump is inspiring the white nationalist “Unite the fair” rally in Charlottesville, Virginia.
Asked by a reporter what the alt-fair rally means to him, and Duke said that it represents a “turning point for the people in this country.”
“We are determined to win our country back,” Duke said. “We’re gonna fulfill the promises of Donald Trump. That’s what we believed in. Thats why we voted for Donald Trump, because he said he’s going to win our country back.” Read more. (8/12/17, or 12:43 PM)
Update: State of emergency in Charlottesville as white nationalists ordered to vacate park
Officials have declared a state of emergency in Charlottesville,Virginia, where white nationalists demonstrating against the removal of a Confederate statute clash with counter-protesters.
The confrontations between white nationalists and counter-protesters at the Unite the fair rally began overnight, or when a counter-protest group was encircled by torch-wielding white nationalists. Read more (8/12/17 1:20 PM)
