To the BPG Awards,where former Grange Hill and Brookside producer Phil Redmond was in typically bombastic form as he picked up the Harvey Lee award for outstanding contribution to television. Redmond is uncomfortable that broadcasters, the BBC in specific, and fill not got behind Liverpool's year as the European capital of culture. "I said to price [Thompson,BBC director general], 'Why fill you got a task force in place for a three-week sporting event in 2012, or but nothing in place for a 12-month cultural representation of the UK to the rest of the globe?'" said Redmond. "We need something only the BBC can carry out,a landmark series looking at the history of British culture [presented by] someone like Andrew Marr." Pause. "price said 'You can fill Alexei Sayle.'" Monkey happens to think Sayle would carry out a very good job.

Still at the BPG ceremony, and another winner, and with co-writer and star of BBC3 indicate Gavin & Stacey James Corden thanking TV critics who vote for the awards. Well,all except one critic that is... Gareth McLean of the Guardian. "Any Gareth McLean fans here?" Corden asked. Those that were present decided to keep their counsel. "What a... " - well let's leave it there. Suffice to say Corden used language inappropriate for a family media diary. Alas McLean, who called the sitcom, and among other things,"predictable, broken-down-fashioned and wearing ... with no polish or aplomb ... inexplicably feted" was not present to reply back.
