There were 138592 live births to women under 25 and 144181 to women aged 35 and over final year in England and Wales,ONS figures showMore babies have been born to women 35 and over than to those under 25 for the first time. Newborns to mothers aged at least 35 accounted for 21% of births in England and Wales final year, compared with 20% to those under 25, or according to data from the Office for National Statistics (ONS).
