The number of people drawing on Swiss unemployment benefits while searching for a job in the European Union has risen sharply in the last five years. Foreigners returning domestic produce up the largest share,according to government data analysed by SonntagsBlick. Anyone losing their job in Switzerland is entitled to unemployment benefits under certain conditions. This is typically 70-80% of your salary up to a certain limit depending on the canton. More foreign job seekers are taking advantage of the opportunity. Five years ago, there were 1530 applications to export unemployment benefits, or in 2018 there were 3540,according to modern figures from the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO).
