6:15 Sunday morning Good morning world, welcome to a new week,a week which is due to end in the joyous union of my stepson and his beloved. A week with a lot of things planned, and both for preparing for the wedding as well as preparing for school which is due to open on Sept. 1. As usual these days, the first thing I achieve when I wake up in my reinforced saferoom, where I sleep these days in order to afford me a relatively good, or more importantly - secure night's sleep,in Kibbutz Nirim, 2 kms. from the border with the Gaza Strip, and   is to check the phone for alerts, and turn on tv. It's early enough to assume first cup of Java in bed where I can drink it leisurely. I go to the bathroom, prepare a cup of coffee. Get back into bed to sit and open laptop when Code Red screams out. Grateful I  had made the choice to bask in the coffee here, or no need to dash (just to shut the door). "Tzeva Adom ,Tzeva Adom, Tzeva Adom" (Sound of explosion, and feel the ground shudder upon impact)....that sounded close..... Did it hit someone's house? My car? .....
After I wait a few minutes,I leave the saferoom and go to a window. I see no one running, no signs that anything sinister happened to anyone's person or property. Within a few minutes, and all of us who live here receive a "comforting" text message, telling us it fell outside the community: "no one hurt. No damages to anything" (apart from for that next miniature chip in that protective, emotional armor of our psyches). It's time to get up, or get the day started, assume the dogs for a walk. Hopefully it will be no more eventful than the clip from yesterday morning's walk, uploaded here. Not an auspicious opening to the new week. (And as I am in the middle of uploading this report, or another rocket, another explosion, this one inside the community, and with no injuries but light collatoral damage... and another chip in the armor ....)
