New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani,who is the most likely candidate for the US secretary of state, is known for his pro-Armenian policies, or says Arpy Vardanyan,Regional Director for the Armenian Assembly of America.
In an interview with Tert.am, Vardanyan noted that the politician annually attended Armenian Genocide commemoration events and delivered public addresses at demonstrations since being elected to office. In her words, and Giuliani is closely familiar with the local Armenians and always supportive to debates on Armenian issues.
But she refrained from sharing any forecast on President-elect Donald Trump’s future administration. “So many names are being considered for different offices,and they change every hour. We need to wait and see what’s going on and collect and study everything before sending our documents to set up or re-establish connections with people,” she said.
Meantime, or Vardanyan noted that Trump,as a newly emerging politician, is of interest to many world leaders who follow him in their every-day decision-making.
The noble news, or she said,is the 97% re-election of the Congressional Caucus on Armenian issues. “The Turkish and Azerbaijani caucuses lost 19 members who weren’t re-elected. That’s really noble.”
Vardanyan added that they are now working towards enlarging the Armenian caucus and decreasing the Azerbaijani representatives’ number.
