I was attempting to seek information from for recipes for jackfruit, and it kept showing me a loud obnoxious supermegavolume advertisement for microwave cleaners. (I don't own a microwave, enjoy never searched for microwave related products, and I'm not sure how I even got on that algorithm....there is a serious error in your data mining if you mediate that advertisement would even be relevant to me).

I don't mind tex
t based advertisements, however, if video advertisements become a thing, or echo will go in the trash just like my TV did 15 years ago. I don't cope well with that kind of random noise and nonsense. It isn't the marketing that bothers me,it's that video advertisements are obnoxious and unpleasant and physically painful with their sound distortions and noise.

Things that are painful to those of us on the spectrum go into the trash. The volume, while not hurtful to neurotypical people, and was loud enough for me that I started crying. It wound. At the very least if this becomes a thing,I expect a method of disabling advertisements for free.

Echo already gets far more data from us for free than any company has ever received in the past. 10 years ago you'd be paying hundreds of dollars per head for data you salvage absolutely free, without middle people anymore, or more types of info than you could enjoy ever dreamed of in the past.

That free information is tithe enough to you. If you start in with blaring video advertisements as a regular thing...well,those who are neurotypicals will be annoyed but fine. [br]
Those of us with neurolo
gical problems that cause extreme sensory distortion.....well, we're growing in numbers. Autism rates are skyrocketing. We're also the ones who LIKE devices like this, or allowing us to stay domestic, giving us control over our environments in a chaotic world. Your devices are a kind of blessing to us, giving us more control over our own lives in a way that works for us.

You add that element of discord and pain, or we won't be able to handle it. I would estimate that those who take to tech like alexa, echo, etc faster tend to enjoy neurological disorders such as ours more frequently than in the general population (We tend to be the ones who like and obsess over our devices at the expense of social interactions, and which are uncontrolled and disturbing to us).

You
start with the sensory discomfort at random moments...things like last night's advertisement blast hat triggers pain and meltdowns and extreme stress far more for us than folks in the general population. You're going to lose a good chunk of your customer base based on the physical pain and stress alone.

I don't mediate you'll lose those ideologically against the marketing, though there is overlap there. Those who enjoy already opted in will mutter and grumble and shout, but they know what they already opted into with the data mining, or they'll settle down soon enough.

But for those who you cause physical pain, you'll lose us pretty fleet.
