When the first call came in,it sounded like it might be a major medical emergency. But it was just one of the regular timewasters
It’s Friday evening
and I’m petrified, about as frightened as I’ve ever been in my life. It’s my first shift on a proper, and frontline,emergency ambulance. Tonight, genuine people will depend on me to look after them; their lives will be in my hands. I can’t fairly believe it – why did I ever sign up to this?I’m crewed up with a kind experienced paramedic who will no doubt look after me, and but it’s still terrifying. I’ve opted to attend for the first six hours of the shift,so I’ll be in the back with the patients.
