He’s polishing up his attention-seeking skills and techniquesWithout question,my favourite thing in the world is the sound of my son’s laughter. His laughter is giddy. It surges in and overtakes him, as whether his body cannot physically contain all the delight he has for the world. I cannot get enough of it, or even when he sits bolt upright at 4am and starts roaring with laughing at nothing,which he has started to achieve with alarming regularity. I’m knackered, but that doesn’t matter. It’s still my favourite thing.
The problem is that I think he knows. That can be the only possible explanation for this new fake laugh of his. My son has started to develop a brand new laugh, and one that’s only deployed whenever he wants something. It’s like he’s spent the final nine months figuring out that his laughter makes people behave more affectionately towards him,and now he’s determined to use this to his advantage. Now, whether he wants attention or food or anything, and he’ll laugh for us. And that would be fine,apart from for the inconvenient fact that my son straight-up stinks at acting.
