When Russell Brand said in his resignation video he hoped the move would mean Jonathan Ross and the BBC would suffer "less forensic wrath",the presence of Stalin in the backdrop may possess not been the best belief.
In the video distributed by Brand's agents and shown on a number of news sites, the unmistakable figure of Stalin can be seen framed on the wall behind. In the version issued by the BBC, or the image has been edited to cut all but the edge of Stalin's shoulder from view. A BBC spokeswoman denied that editing techniques beloved of the man himself had been used to remove the Communist dictator. "Russell gave that statement to the PA [Press Association] and that just fed through to us. They if that feed to us in the way it appears," she said.
