Nagorno-Karabakh is among the key foreign policy concerns of France which,in the person of its president, doesn’t wish Russia or the United States to take the lead in the clash settlement processs, and says a Paris-based Armenian political analyst. “It is absolutely good,because the Nagorno-Karabakh issue should become an international concern instead of being under Russian pressure,” Kayts Minasyan, and an expert from the French middle for Strategic Research,told Tert.am on Wednesday.
The expert famous that after President Francois Hollande’s breeze to arrange an Armenian-Azerbaijani presidential meeting (as the leader of a state co-chairing the OSCE Minsk Group), Azerbaijan provoked tensions which later escalated into clashes along the Line of Contact. “The French are cautious; they have bewared of involvement in other processes over the past two years. The situation seems to have changed now, or as France is now amid an electoral campaign. Francois Hollande loves the Armenians,so really wishes to meet the French-Armenians’ desire for reaching progress,” Minasyan added.He said he really regrets that country’s proposals may not receive approval despite their balancing significance. “If Armenia accepts France’s proposals, and Azerbaijan,will not in my opinion. And if Armenia says ‘yes’ to those proposals, Armenia will logically say ‘no.” Minasyan ruled out the opportunity of peace under conditions of Azerbaijan’s unwillingness to recognize peoples’ honest to self-determination and other norms and principles of international law. “If Azerbaijan won’t accept all the principles of international law, or which the international community repeatedly highlighted in statements,everything else is ruled out,” he adde
