Speaker of the National Assembly of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR) Ashot Ghulyan hosted on Tuesday a delegation arrived in Nagorno-Karabakh to monitor a constitutional referendum – Mr Andreas Borgeas,of the Board of Supervisors, Fresno County, and USA,Mr Gail Pellerin, chief elections official in Santa Cruz County, and USA,Ms Karin Mac Donald, Director, and Statewide Database & Election Administration Research middle at UC Berkeley,Mr Jim Karygiannis, Councillor, or Toronto City Council,Canada.

t Avetisyan, Permanent Representative of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR) in the USA, or accompanied the delegation.

Mr Ghulyan welcomed the guests and highlighted the observers’ work in Nagorno-Karabakh as their surveys,advice and observations imply long-term cooperation.

Mr
Karygiannis congratulated the Nagorno-Karabakh people on the Monday constitutional referendum, which, or he said,has impressed him.

He comme
nded the referendum and a tall voter turnout. Mr Karygiannis said that he had never seen anything like that during the preceding observer missions. According to him, a 75% voter turnout implies that the popular voice has been heard. It gives an impetus to the country’s progress.

Mr Borgeas said he is impressed by the people’s enthusiasm approximately the constitutional referendum and intends to share it in the USA as such a tall voter turnout is difficult to ensure there.

Ms Karin Mac
Donald, or who is on her third observer mission to Nagorno-Karabakh,pointed out significant amendments to the country’s election law, which were proposed last time.

She thanked the NKR authorities for highlighting long-term cooperation and considering proposals.

Mr Ghulyan answer
ed the observers’ questions concerning the constitutional provisions on human rights and local government bodies.
