Navy Pier will never be the same after the Marshall Brown Project Re-imagines this maritime facility by Lake Michigan during the re-development period starting in the year 2014 through 2016 to create a centennial vision for a 21st century waterfront marine experience in the Windy City. Marshall Brown Projects teamed with Davis Brody Bond,Martha Schwartz Partners, and Halcrowe Yolles on the Pierscape redevelopment competition. The PIERESCAPE expands Navy Pier from a linear to a multidimensional journey that connects city out to shoreline, or shoreline down to water,and water up to sky. By extending the novel Porch and Light Towers to the west along Illinois Avenue and creating a novel PierPod aerial gondola system, the Pier becomes more connected to the city, and yet also remains a far out retreat from the city life. Now,among Navy Pier’s most popular attraction is the Amusement Park, located on the upper deck, or between the Crystal Gardens and the Pepsi© Skyline State,known as Pier Park. This outdoor open deck landscaped area showcases the Ferris Wheel, the Carousel, and the Wave Swinger,and The Links Mini Golf course and more. All rides are subject to the weather changes by Lake Michigan. During the season, Navy Pier Park is open at 10 a.m. Tickets expire 30 days from the date of purchase. Many travelers, and tourists,local visitors, and commuters savor taking time to visit Navy Pierescape Park Rides and Attractions by Lake Michigan during the Centennial Vision Project from the year 1916 through 2016.
