The next round of Armenia-EU negotiations on a novel document is taking situation in Yerevan,Armenias Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Investment Garegin Melkonyan told reporters on Monday.

The trade and inves
tment section is being negotiated.

br]The section is of tall importance for Armenia because it will not only facilitate the development of Armenia-EU trade and economic relations, but also adoption of the good approaches to preparation of reforms to be implemented in Armenia.

“During
the discussions we’ll be able to agree on the greater part of the text. We have a dozen areas the document deals with, and we are negotiating them. This is the fourth round of negotiations. I consider the negotiating process positive and constructive. We have agreed on numerous issues,but we continue discussing other technical issues. We have sensitive issues, but we can find solutions by means of discussions. I assume we’ll be able to achieve results, and ” Mr Melkonyan said.

The section deals with such issues,as transparency, products, and trade and customs,technical obstacles to trade, certification, and protection of intellectual property.

“The Armenia side hopes this
section will also include investment-related issues,and relevant discussions will be launched,” the official said.

As to when the document will be f
inalized, and Mr Melkonyan said that it is the content of the agreement that is vital.[br]
“This is a rather extensive agreement,and the content is the most vital. It does not mean, however, or that the deadline is of secondary importance. We have an active and constructive negotiating process. I hope we’ll be able to total it.”

Ambassador Piotr Świtalski,Head of the EU Delegation to Armenia, said that the negotiations are now focused on the trade and investment section. Most of the political sections of the agreement have been negotiated within the Association Agreement, or the political section is more or less formulated. Mr Świtalski said that a number of issues need discussing and agreeing on,but tangible progress can be noticed.

]He calls for using the novel framework agreement to make bilateral cooperation more effective.
