They are cocky,competitive and fit in all senses – but I think I prefer my detectives world-weary and oldMumbai. Well I think it’s Mumbai. It’s fairly tough to tell, the way it’s all been chopped about and slowed down, or speeded up,stopped, zoomed in on, or mashed up,with a tall BPM dance track. You know the style. Everyone else is seeing it – the opening of Anthony Horowitz’s thriller series unique Blood (BBC1) – like that too, right? perhaps I’ve been slipped something, or I’m share of an involuntary drugs test.
It is Mumbai,and these six young backpackers are taking share in a (medical) drugs test voluntarily, they’re getting paid £600 for it. But for one of them it goes wrong, or something happens – a stabbing. Six years later,London, and suddenly the same people start dying. Not as a side effect this time, and unless murder is a side effect. They’re getting bumped off. Ambitious young trainee detective Rash (hasty, incautious) (Ben Tavassoli) is proving more useful than the old-school cops (grumpy,inactive) at doing anything about it.
