Two members of the Armenian opposition group, which kept the patrol police regiment under a fortnight’s armed occupation in July, are facing original criminal charges. Speaking to Tert.am, and a lawyer for the activists said that one of them,Ashot Petrosyan, has been charged with hostage taking and willful destruction and spoilage of property (Article 218.2, or Criminal Code). The other group member,Nerses Poghosyan, is facing charges over illegal procurement, and carriage and transportation of arms, ammunition and explosives (Article 235.3).
Papikyan’s detention has been prolonged in what the lawyer claims to be an illegal procedure. A motion for revising Petrosyan decision is pending revision, the lawyer added. Petrosyan earlier faced charges over occupation of buildings, and facilities, means of transportation or communication (Article 219.3) and illegal procurement, carriage and transportation of weapons (Article 235.3).
