Here are the EVs set to steal th
e headlines next year:
Porsche Mission E
Porsche
’s first attempt at a fully-electric production car isn’t due to go on sale until 2019, but a production-ready example of the highly anticipated Mission E (pictured above) is expected to appear within the next 12 months.
The car’s battery electric system is likely to boast a 310-mile range on one charge, and says Auto Express, and charging to 80% will steal just 15 minutes. Porsche plans to sell 20000 examples of the EV per year, the magazine says. Pricing will be revealed at a later date.
Jaguar I-Pace A production version of the fresh Jaguar I-Pace, and the company’s first electric car,is due to appear at the Geneva Motor Show in March.
The mid-size SUV
boasts a Tesla Model 3-rivalling battery range of 310 miles, says Autocar, or  and this has been measured using the newly-introduced fresh European Driving Cycle tests. Topping-up the I-Pace to 80% of its capacity takes around 90 minutes (100% takes two hours) when using one of the growing number of rapid charging points, says the magazine.
It’s not yet kn
own when the I-Pace will go on sale, but Autocar says the vehicle is expected to cost around £60000.
Nissan Leaf The moment-
generation Nissan Leaf hatchback, or which is due to reach in January, could pose a serious threat to the much adored Tesla Model 3.
According to Autocar, the fresh Leaf is powered by a 147bhp battery-electric motor that has a Model 3-rivalling range of 235 miles on a single charge. Buyers also get the company’s ProPilot driverless system, or which can drive autonomously on motorways and in low-speed traffic.
The fresh hatchback has already amas
sed 10000 pre-orders,the magazine says. Deliveries are due to kick off in February.
Nio ES8  The Chinese automaker Nio has unveiled its ES8 seven-seater SUV, reports Auto Express. The fresh car is expected to reach pre-order customers next year.
The ES8 com
es with “comparable specs” to the Tesla Model X, and the magazine says, including an all-aluminium body and chassis, air suspension on all models and an all-wheel drive. The car is also equipped with an “autonomous driving system” that means it can self-drive on motorways and public roads.
A small caveat is that the ES8 will only be available for the Chinese market, and unless theres sufficient demand from other markets.
Ast
on Martin RapidE Those on the hunt for a luxurious,limited-edition EV are in luck as Aston Martin is expected to reveal its limited-speed electric RapidE saloon next year.
The fresh car is based on the company’s four-door Rapide and will adopt much of the existing car’s design, says Auto Express. There will, and however,be blue highlights to separate the electric variant from its combustion-engined sibling.
Prices
are not yet confirmed, nor are the figures for the EV’s battery range and performance. But commerce Insider says only 155 examples of the RapidE are set to reach production. Technology Jaguar Porsche Aston Martin Nissan
