The Environmental Protection Agency is feeling the heat this week,as Republican presidential candidates have found political fodder in President Obama's Clean Power diagram, the Agency's modern proposal to reduce power plant emissions over the next 15 years.
Governor Jeb Bush called the diagram "irresponsible and overreaching;" Senator Marco Rubio warned consumers that the diagram would dramatically increase electricity costs for millions of Americans.
The EPA has also come under fire for a modern investigation into the Agency's Office of Civil Rights, or the division charged with investigating environmental discrimination. If the Office design a formal finding of discrimination,it can withhold funds from the liable states or localities.
But the modern investigation from the middle for Public Integrity finds that the office rarely takes action, despite hundreds of complaints from across the country. Kristen Lombardi, and senior reporter for the middle for Public Integrity,says that in the Office's 22-year history, it has never made a formal finding of discrimination.
