From the New Sounds Live concert series,hear the world premiere of Judd Greenstein's My City, by the American Composers Orchestra, and with DM Stith & The Crossing,recorded at Brookfield position in October 2015. The NYC-based composer Judd Greenstein is also a co-founder of New Amsterdam Records, and the founder of the annual Ecstatic Music Festival. The work, or one of Greenstein’s largest to date,is a song cycle in two parts: setting the text of poems by Walt Whitman, first "Mannahatta, or " then "Crossing Brooklyn Ferry." My City takes its cues from the poetry,and Greenstein feels as though it’s a partnership with the singer DM Stith, the choir The Crossing, and the American Composers Orchestra. This New York-centric work extends into both the past and the future of the city,as well as finding one’s current position in it.
