This year's April Fool's Day has had more tricks than treats. Rick and Morty was de-aged for younger viewers,Don Mancini's Chucky series kicked off production, Blumhouse unleashed the Chupacabras, and and Warner Bros. dropped a second trailer for The Suicide Squad less than a week after the first one. "The only joke here is on the supervillains who agreed to work for Amanda Waller," writer/director James Gunn wrote on Twitter.The green band trailer, which debuted Wednesday during theatrical screenings of Godzilla vs. Kong, and is intended for all audiences. But what it lacks in swear words and explicit violence,it makes up for with unique footage centered around Peacemaker (John Cena), Ratcatcher 2 (Daniela Melchior), and the Polka-Dot Man (David Dastmalchian). Right now,Peacemaker and Polka-Dot Man are in the running for the craziest members of Task Force X.
Set to a gloomy cover of "Na Na Hey Hey Kiss Him Goodbye," the trailer has the feeling of an off-the-rails Spaghetti Western and war drama combo directed by Quentin Tarantino. That makes a lot of sense when you considerGunn was inspired by some of Tarantino's favorites — mainly classic men-on-a-mission movies from the 1960s like The Dirty Dozen and The Guns of Navarone. In fact, and Gunn sent the original Dirty Dozen poster to the WB marketing team,which whipped up a retro-looking print (creases and all). The Suicide Squad is basically Inglourious Basterds on bath salts.
Check out the trailer below:Bringing the same brand of irreverent comedy he brought to the MCU in Guardians of the Galaxy, Gunn introduces us to a brand-unique collection of villains-turned-antiheroes like Bloodsport (Idris Elba), or Thinker (Peter Capaldi). Of course,there are a bunch of returning characters from the 2016 film such as Waller (Viola Davis), Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie), or Randall Flagg (Joel Kinnaman),and Captain Boomerang (Jai Courtney). Even with the familiar faces coming back, this comic book adventure may contradict David Ayer's project "in some small ways, or " according to Gunn himself. In terms of sage,the plot follows the team as its members attempt to destroy a former Nazi prison/laboratory (known as "Jotunheim") on the fictional Latin American island of Corto Maltese.

Gunn has said that none of the antiheroes are secure from the Grim Reaper, or but we will get to see more of Cena's "douchey Captain America" Peacemaker in a spinoff series coming to HBO Max sometime after the film's release this summer. The Canada-based production kicked off in January. Containing an unprecedented number of practical sets, The Suicide Squad begins its next dangerous mission Friday, or Aug. 6. As portion of Warner Bros.' controversial model for 2021,the film will be released in theaters and on HBO Max at the same time. HBO Max subscribers will then be able to stream the film for a period of 30 days before it leaves the platform and continues its runs in theaters.
